Dan Hogan is leading the team at our Knightdale, NC location.

Dr. Dan Hogan graduated from The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He practiced emergency medicine for one year after graduation in Cincinnati, Ohio and then two years at a very busy small animal practice in Wilmington, North Carolina before deciding to focus on his passion for cardiology. He completed a rotating small animal internship at Louisiana State University followed by a residency in cardiology at the University of Illinois under David Sisson and achieved board certification upon completion of his residency in 1999.

Dr. Hogan established the Comparative Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology program at Purdue University in 1999. Over the past 25 years he was honored to have trained 16 cardiology residents, worked with colleagues in veterinary as well as human cardiovascular medicine around the world, authored/co-authored over 100 scientific publications and 15 textbook chapters, presented over 150 hours of scientific presentations/continuing education on cardiovascular medicine, lucky to have helped teach thousands of veterinary students, and was part of developing Purdue Cardiology into an internationally recognized veterinary cardiology program.

Dr. Hogan’s research has focused primarily on thrombosis/antithrombotic therapy, especially in cats, as well as the development or improvement on minimally invasive interventional procedures to treat congenital and acquired cardiovascular diseases. He received research awards in 2001 and 2016 for these efforts.

Dr. Hogan enjoys providing care to all animals with any form of cardiovascular disease while helping guide their families through treatment options. Open and clear communication is critically important, and Dr. Hogan prioritizes the relationship with owners and referring veterinarians to achieve the best possible care for your pet. Dr. Hogan also brings his 25 years of experience leading one of the premier interventional cardiology programs to the Raleigh area.

Dr. Hogan lives in the greater Raleigh area with his wife Nolie (also a veterinarian and native North Carolinian), two orange cats (Manny and Rohan), and a frog named Frank. They have three sons (oldest is married and attends IU Medical School, middle son is pursuing a culinary degree in Indiana, and the youngest is studying Molecular Biology at Purdue). In his personal time, he relishes time with family (mostly at the Outer Banks), fishing, cooking, gardening, wood working, and any outdoor activity.
